Adult Development
Early Adulthood

Early adulthood is generally accepted as 18/20 - 40 years of age. There is an additional stage with increased use; emerging adulthood is used for those ages 18/20 -25 years of age. Emerging adulthood is a time for exploration, a time between growing up and being a grown up. (BERGER, 2019). Emerging adults generally have healthy bodies, they tend to be risk takers, sexual reproduction reaches its peak. Regardless of sex, physical strength, coordination, and dexterity peaks in a person's late 20's to early 30's. The leading cause of death of those in their 20's is accidents, this is a result of being risk takers. According to Erikson's stages of Psychosocial Development, early adulthood is the 6th stage, Intimacy vs Isolation. Success in this stage results in the virtue of love.

Middle Adulthood

Middle Adulthood is generally around the ages of 40 - 65 years, this is a time of gradual change. During this time middle agers, can se changes in weight, appearance, and health. As we age our metabolism slows down, this can cause weight gain. They may see a change in skin and hair, including wrinkles, grey hairs, and possible balding. Other changes include joint pain due to wear and tear called osteoarthritis, bone loss due to osteoporosis, and changes in reproduction. Middle agers maybe part of a "sandwich generation", those who take care or both their children and parents. This is also a time they may becoming grandparents.
